Paris Weekend Guide: January 30 - February 1, 2026

By Sophie Martin, Paris Local Expert

Bonjour, mes amis! January may be drawing to a close, but Paris is far from slumbering. This last weekend of the month offers a wonderful mix of cultural discoveries, cozy indoor activities, and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking to explore maritime history, warm up with chocolate, or take in breathtaking city views, I’ve got you covered.

Weather Outlook

Late January in Paris typically means crisp, cold days with temperatures hovering between 3-8°C (37-46°F). Expect overcast skies with possible drizzle, so pack layers and a waterproof jacket. The good news? This is perfect weather for ducking into museums, covered passages, and cozy cafés. If we get a clear spell, the winter light over the Seine can be absolutely magical for photography.

Top Picks for the Weekend

1. Dans le Sillage de Magellan - Immersive Exhibition at the Musée National de la Marine

This stunning immersive exhibition transports you back 500 years to follow Ferdinand Magellan’s legendary circumnavigation of the globe. Using cutting-edge projection technology and historical artifacts, you’ll experience the dangers, discoveries, and triumphs of this epic voyage. The newly renovated Maritime Museum is a gem that many visitors overlook, and this exhibition is the perfect reason to discover it.

Practical Info: Open 11am-7pm (until 9pm on Fridays). Tickets around €13-17. Book online to skip queues.

Kids can try their hand at creating their own chocolate treats.

4. Walk Through Paris’s Most Beautiful Covered Passages

Anytime | 2nd and 9th arrondissements

This is my absolute favorite activity for a cold January weekend. Paris’s historic covered passages, or “passages couverts,” are like stepping into a 19th-century time capsule. Glass roofs, mosaic floors, vintage bookshops, and quirky boutiques await. Start at Galerie Vivienne (the most photogenic), continue to Passage des Panoramas (the oldest), and finish at Passage Verdeau for antique postcards and rare books.

Practical Info: Free to explore. Most shops open 10am-7pm. Metro: Grands Boulevards or Bourse.

Sophie’s Tip: Café Stern inside Passage des Panoramas serves exceptional Italian coffee in a gorgeous Art Nouveau setting. Perfect mid-stroll pick-me-up!
