Paris Weekend Guide: February 13-15, 2026

By Sophie Martin, your local Paris insider

Bonjour, mes amis! February is here, and with Valentine’s Day falling on Saturday this weekend, Paris is positively buzzing with romantic energy. Whether you’re celebrating love, enjoying Galentine’s Day with friends, or simply exploring our beautiful city solo, I’ve curated the perfect mix of activities to make your weekend magnifique.

Weather Watch 🌤️

Mid-February in Paris typically brings crisp winter weather with temperatures hovering between 3-9°C (37-48°F). Expect overcast skies with possible light rain showers, so pack layers and keep a compact umbrella handy. The good news? This is actually ideal museum-hopping weather, and there’s something undeniably romantic about Paris under grey skies. The cafés are cozy, the hot chocolate is flowing, and you’ll have many attractions to yourself without the summer crowds.

My tip: Dress in warm layers and waterproof shoes. The cobblestones can be slippery when wet, and you’ll want to stay comfortable whether you’re strolling along the Seine or ducking into a warm bistro.

Top Picks for the Weekend

1. Notre-Dame de Paris - A Cathedral Reborn

Available all weekend | Île de la Cité | Free entry (reservations required)

If you haven’t yet visited Notre-Dame since its grand reopening, this weekend is your moment. The restored cathedral is absolutely breathtaking, and seeing it in winter light, with fewer tourists than spring or summer, offers an almost spiritual experience. Book your free timed entry slot in advance online - they go quickly!

Insider tip: Arrive early morning or late afternoon for the best lighting through the restored rose windows. Combine your visit with a stroll to the nearby Sainte-Chapelle, just a five-minute walk away, where 1,113 medieval stained glass panels will leave you speechless.

2. Louvre Friday Night - Art After Dark

Friday, February 13 | Until 9pm | €17

Valentine’s weekend starts with a bang at the Louvre’s nocturne! The museum stays open late on Friday evenings, offering a magical way to experience the world’s greatest art collection without the daytime crowds. Wander through the Egyptian antiquities by lamplight, steal a moment with the Mona Lisa when the galleries are quieter, and end your evening in the sculpture courtyard under the glass pyramid.

Local secret: The Richelieu wing is always the least crowded. Start there and work your way toward the more popular galleries as others tire out.

5. Opéra Garnier - Paris’s Most Stunning Interior

Available all weekend | 9th arrondissement | €14-16

For a truly romantic Valentine’s activity, book a self-guided visit to the Palais Garnier. The grand staircase, the Chagall ceiling in the auditorium, the gilded foyers - this is Belle Époque Paris at its most extravagant. Even if you can’t catch a performance, the building itself is the show.

My recommendation: Visit mid-morning when natural light floods the Grand Foyer, then treat yourself to lunch at one of the elegant cafés on Boulevard Haussmann nearby.

Local Tips & Insider Knowledge

For couples on Valentine’s Day: Skip the obvious tourist traps and book a table at a neighborhood bistro instead. Restaurant reservations will be tight, so book now if you haven’t already. Consider an early dinner (French early means 7:30pm) to avoid the rush.

Budget-friendly romance: Many of Paris’s best museums are free! The Musée Carnavalet (Paris history), Petit Palais, and Musée Cognacq-Jay in the Marais all offer world-class art without the entrance fee. Perfect for a cultured date.

Getting around: The Métro runs normally, but expect slightly reduced weekend schedules on buses. Walking remains the best way to experience Paris, even in February - just pace yourself and plan café breaks.

Language exchange bonus: Friday evening at The J’Club hosts a Latin languages exchange (French, Spanish, Italian) if you want to practice your language skills in a relaxed setting.

Quick Practical Info

  • Museum tip: Most major museums are closed on Tuesdays, not weekends, so you’re in luck!
  • Valentine’s Day: Many restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus - expect to pay €50-100 per person for a nice dinner
  • Sunday hours: Many shops close Sunday, but the Marais stays open and makes for excellent browsing
  • Emergency pharmacy: Look for the green cross signs; at least one pharmacy per arrondissement stays open late and on Sundays

Bon weekend, and may your Paris adventure be filled with unexpected discoveries and beautiful moments!

À bientôt, Sophie 💕
